Perna Studios is very excited to announce our 19th trading card set entitled Classic Mythology IV: World Mythology. This set will focus on Gods, Goddesses and Creatures from the following mythologies; Greek, Egyptian, Norse, Celtic, Japanese, Chinese, Native American, Aztec/Mayan, Inuit, Hindu and African. We have an impressive list of artists involved on this set working on both base/promo cards and sketch cards. Classic Mythology IV trading card set was released in early Summer 2023.
I drew this METAL sketch card of Chang'e from Chinese mythology for the Classic Mythology IV trading card set.
Chang'e, originally known as Heng'e, is the Chinese goddess of the Moon. She is the subject of several legends in Chinese mythology, most of which incorporate several of the following elements: Hou Yi the archer, a benevolent or malevolent emperor, an elixir of life, and the Moon. She was married to Hou Yi. In modern times, Chang'e has been the namesake of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program.
Chang'e sought refuge in the moon when her consort, Hou Yi (the Lord Archer). Hou Yi discovered she had stolen the drug of immortality given to him by the gods. Hou Yi’s pursuit was impeded by the Hare, who would not let the irate husband pass until he promised reconciliation.
